APPROACH
I use an eclectic approach in therapy, focused in research-based treatment approaches. I have heard too often from my clients that their past experiences with therapy weren't helpful. I believe in the power of insight and integrate relational and insight-oriented approaches to promote awareness into how your past experiences may influence recurrent patterns which are keeping you from living a life that is most meaningful to you. I see myself as an active participant in the collaborative therapeutic process.
It is of high value to me to create a welcoming and affirming environment for everyone who seeks my services. I recognize and honor that each of us has a unique journey and diverse identities that will be woven into the therapeutic process.
therapy EXPERIENCE
I began my clinical work in 2000 after receiving my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Since that time I have worked with young adults at two large university counseling centers, most recently I was on staff with Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) where I worked counseling university students from 2011-2017.
Prior to my work at UCSC, I served university students as a staff member of CAPS at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL from 2005-2011. My independent private practice in Chicago, from 2003-2005, focused on therapy with adolescents and their families addressing a range of concerns. Previously, I also worked overseas in Singapore for two years (2001-2003) at an agency specializing in psychotherapy with expatriate youth and their families. I worked as a School Social Worker in a high school and a middle school in 2000-2001.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (LCSW #27290) and a participating member in the National Association of Social Workers.
Coaching EXPERIENCE
I began coaching through the BetterUp platform in 2019. As a BetterUp coach, I’ve completed several training modules and completed the Conscious Business Coaching Certification in 2000. Additionally, I received a Graduate Level Certificate from the Harvard Extention School in 2019. I believe my solution-focused therapy background has positioned me well to expand my practice to offer coaching services. Coaching tends to be more short term goal oriented with more directive approaches.
